Which Numbers Get Mapped To What?
The upper halves of both the MIDI Options Dialog Box and the General Graphics Options
Dialog Box control the way a biological signal is processed. The lower half of the MIDI
Options Dialog Box controls how this processed signal is mapped to MIDI parameters. The
lower half of the General Graphics Options Dialog Box controls how this processed signal is
displayed on a graph and ouput to ASCII or DDE. Confusion sometimes arises over which
parameters in the upper half of the dialog box get mapped to which parameters in the lower
half of the dialog box.
The primary reason for this confusion is that the upper half of the dialog box changes when a
different input algorithm is selected. Each input algorith is a different way to process
biological signals and has a unique set of settings. These algorithms and settings are
described later in this section.
Each input has a set of settings that are mapped to the output, the lower half of the box. If the
box is MIDI it will define the top and bottom of the range of notes and velocity, or
continuous controllers. If the box is General Graphics it will define the top and bottom of the
general graph window, i.e. the Y-axis. The signal will be output in the range defined by these
numbers.
The table below summarizes the input algorithms and their settings and can be used for
reference when wondering which set of numbers in the upper box are changing the lower
box.
